By now, you should have assigned and graded several informal assessments. How have you been using the results of these assessments to improve how you teach and what students learn? What strategies has your CT suggested for providing students with guidance before they do the assignment to improve their performance? What about after the assignment?
I use my informal assessments to gauge what concepts my students get and what ones need to be reviewed or retaught in a different format. After, any informal assessment i like to go over it so that students know what they missed and what i was looking for. It is also a great way to address the common misconeptions that students may still have. Also, by looking at what topics students are still struggling with i know that the medium in which i taught it in wasn't effective and that i need to alter it or find a different way of teaching it so that it is more clear.
My cooperating teacher has told me to be more clear in the expectations i have for students. It makes it less confusing for them and i will get the results of what i want. Usually if i'm not clear enough the results of my assignment will not be what i want and i will assume the students may not understand something when it was be being confusing and unclear. After, assignments My teacher always suggests that i go over the common mistakes made by students. This will address the common misconceptions up front and give me a feel for what needs to be revisited.
